RUNNING THEM IS ONE OF THE NEWS OF THE 23rd RIO DE JANEIRO HALF MARATHON

In addition to gathering thousands of runners from around the country and abroad, the 23rd Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, will also provide more than special athletes. The Running for Them Project and Yescom have entered into a partnership to increase the presence of direct relatives of people with motor paralysis, encouraging the practice of collective racing. 23 wheelchair users are expected, each with two guides, starting from 7:05 am, near the Jardim de Alah, in the Leblon District, South Zone of the Marvelous City.
Founded in June 2018, in an initiative by dentist and marathon runner Altino Mourão and physical educators Daniel Sandy and Cesar Sforcin, the project's mission is to capture and offer street racing tricycles for already working-out families and families who would like to start this regular habit, and provide structure for training and street testing.

“We want to get people out of a sedentary lifestyle and make runner parents so they can share this racing world with all their energy with their children. Above all, promote social inclusion through sport. Partnership with Yescom is important for project growth, ”says Daniel Sandy.

Running for them already serves around 120 families, having already engaged in the sport more than 30 parents of PwDs and adult PwDs, more than 200 registered volunteers, 25 tricycles available for families in each activity and 10 tricycles donated throughout Brazil.

The project operates on four fronts: 1) Offering structure, tricycles, sign-ups and racers of good (volunteers) to push individuals with special needs who have no family or their relatives cannot participate in activities in events and events in Rio de Janeiro. January and other cities or countries; 2) Race advice for all types of PwD and interested in supporting the cause, as well as registration for street race events in the city of Rio de Janeiro and other cities or countries; 3) Donation to racing-engaged families of race-adapted tricycles; 4) Improve the lives of assisted families with assistance and basic daily structure (medicine, dentistry, legal and financial advice, supplies).

Yescom is a pioneer in inclusion, with more than 600 people with disabilities taking part in 2018 tests in eight categories - Chair, Guide Chair, Visually Impaired, Lower Limb Amputee, Walking Lower Limb, Upper Limb and Hearing Impaired - for free .
